The Nomination Committee is accepting nominations for the election slate.  The slate will include nominees for President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

You can nominate any member in good standing for any of these positions, including yourself. Written consent is needed if nominated by someone else. Please contact Dana at

 Nominations will be accepted in three different ways:

1. Email your nomination to Dana between now and March 1st.

2.  Nominations from the floor will be take at our March 15th luncheon.

3.  Last day for written/emailed nominations will be April 9, 2012 (10 days before the election)

 Article VI

ELECTION PROCEDURES

 Section 1.        

The NOMINATION COMMITTEE will be responsible for filling the slate of elected officers for the club’s executive board:

 PRESIDENT: Presides at all OWC meetings. Appoints chairpersons and fills any vacancy on the Board. Serves on most committees. Supervises the overall affairs of the club. Has a working knowledge of the Constitution, Bylaws and Operating Policies.

 FIRST VICE PRESIDENT: Assumes the Presidency, if necessary. Performs the duties of the President in her/his absence. Is responsible for the overall coordination and planning of the monthly programs and functions.

 SECOND VICE PRESIDENT: Presides at meetings in the absence of the President and First Vice President. Organizes all fund raising functions.

SECRETARY: Takes minutes of all OWC meetings and provides copies to the Board. Serves as custodian of the permanent records of the OWC. Handles all correspondence.

 TREASURER: Receives, safeguards, disburses and accounts for all funds and monetary assets of the club. Assembles bookkeeping records for delivery to auditor and tax preparer. Bookkeeping knowledge helpful, but not required. 

 A.  The nominating committee consists of members in good standing of the club who do not wish to run for any of the club’s elected offices during the upcoming year.

B.  Be chaired by the parliamentarian and consist of an advisor and five members in good standing.  If the parliamentarian is unable to serve as chairperson, the advisors shall appoint a chairperson.

C.  Meet no later than January.

D.  Accept nominations from the floor at the March general membership meeting. Nominations will be made only with the prior approval of the nominees.   

E.  Coordinate candidate biographies for the newsletter chairperson for the April newsletter.

F.  At the March governing board and general membership meetings present and post its slate of nominees. Written nominations, accompanied by a written letter of consent of the nominee, will be accepted by the chairperson ten (10) days prior to the April election. No further nominations will be accepted.

Section 2.        

VOTING shall be by secret ballot unless an unopposed slate is adopted by acclamation.  The newly elected officers will assume their duties no later than 1 June of the installation year.

Section 3.        

The parliamentarian shall serve as the ELECTION OFFICER. The election officer shall prepare and dispense the ballots, oversee the election process, count the ballots with an impartial club member, and announce the results to the general membership.  If the parliamentarian is ineligible to serve as the election officer, the president shall appoint an election officer.

Put this date on your calendar NOW – Saturday, May 5, 2012. Full day, departing at 5:15 a.m. and returning at approximately 11:00 p.m. We have extended the time to give us the opportunity of taking in a fantastic dinner stop! I will have sign-up at the FEBRUARY LUNCHEON. There are 52 seats and it will be limited to OSC members on a first come basis with full payment upon signing up. I will be accepting cash or a check made payable to OSC. If for any reason you cannot make the trip after your have paid there will be no refund of money unless you can find a person to take your place. After March 1, if we have available seats, members will be allowed totake one guest. Full payment is due again upon signing up your guest.  The price of the trip will be $45.00 per person and this includes transportation via a deluxe coach bus, the services of a walk on tour guide in NYC and the bus driver’s and tour guide’s tip.  We want to take a group to see the Broadway production of “Spiderman”.
